视频描述: [主讲人: Prof. Gordon L. Stüber] [时间: 2015-04-23 16:30:00] This seminar considers wireless systems that employ multi-polarized antennas for increased spectral efficiency. First, a new geometrical theory is presented for channel depolarization in UHF fixed-to-mobile (F2M) and, mobile-to-mobile (M2M) channels. This new geometric approach reveals the geometric origin of channel depolarization and provides a means for computing cross-polarization discrimination (XPD). Afterwards, new methods are considered for exploiting polarization in cellular systems. The first method considers a precoding-assisted dual-polarized multi-cell MIMO system, which is an extension of uni-polarized multi-cell MIMO. Our singular value decomposition (SVD) precoded-aided approach is shown to outperform the conventional MMSE multiuser detector in terms of symbol error rate in a dual-polarized multi-cell MIMO downlink scenario over flat fading channels. The second method considers a novel cellular down-link Polarization Division Multiple Access (PDMA) scheme with collaborative transmitter-receiver-polarization adjustment and polarization filtering detection. The fundamental novelty of the proposed scheme is the adjustment of transmit polarization angle to yield a more desirable complex cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) observed at the receivers, thus, allowing the multiplexed streams to be extracted more effectively. The scheme is applied to an LTE-like multi-carrier air interface operating on frequency-selective channels.
